The Importance of Employment Contracts

In Canada, businesses and NFP's have leverage on just two things: employment contracts and the compliant policy manual. Beyond that, the laws and policies in this country are stacked in favour of the employee. During this talk, Darcy will explore the risks of not having proper contracts. This includes contracts that have not been updated to reflect recent common law rules in Canada. He will also discuss what proper contracts should include.

Maximizing Membership Growth Through Engagement and Tailored Support
Keynote speaker: Karen Hastie, Chamber Perks App
Chambers of Commerce play a crucial role in fostering local business communities. However, Chambers must improve their engagement with business members and employees to maximize membership growth. Chambers must deeply understand their members' needs and provide tailored support to achieve this. This presentation outlines the importance of these strategies and offers actionable steps for Chambers to serve their members effectively.

Unstoppable Influence: What's Required When The Stakes Are High
Keynote speaker: Kevin Gangel, Unstoppable Conversations
Does everything seem like it’s moving faster and faster, you have more and more to do, increasingly conflicting priorities, and the need to influence more and more people with less and less time?
Are the people around you so distracted and overwhelmed that they can’t seem to hear your message?
We think that influence comes from our position, authority, logic, or eloquence. But what if influence is a particular use of language? What if influence is a way to listen, to discover the hidden purpose that people have which they don’t know how to say, and then to speak in a way that they can see the future they want actually being fulfilled?
- You’ll learn to listen in new ways to both what people are actually saying and hear what they are leaving unsaid.
- You’ll see how to discover hidden commitments people have that drive their communication and positions.
- You’ll have the opportunity to look at your own individual purpose in life.
- You will leave with a model for conversations that put purpose at the forefront
